RENLA in Luxembourg: How the Affordable Housing Register Works

RENLA (registre national des logements abordables) is Luxembourg's national register for affordable rental housing. It replaces separate landlord applications with one nationally visible file. A chosen social landlord remains the household's reference contact and file handler.

Applicants must be adults. Household members need Luxembourg residence rights exceeding three months; income must fit the household-type ceiling; and no member may hold more than a one-third property interest in another Luxembourg or foreign home. Eligibility is checked again at allocation. Thresholds and evidence vary by household, so confirm yours in the official procedure or with the chosen landlord.

Read your RENLA status as a ladder

  1. Request. Open the file with one landlord.
  2. Documents. Send household-specific evidence within six months.
  3. Review. You are not on the waiting list while the landlord checks the file.
  4. Registration. The confirmation letter marks RENLA entry.
  5. Match. A proposal may follow; a home and date are not guaranteed.

Choose one entry route and one reference landlord

New applicants can start online through MyGuichet.lu or in person with their chosen social landlord. The Housing Ministry's RENLA FAQ describes both routes. The selected landlord keeps the full file; other authorised social landlords see only basic contact details. This gives the household national reach without duplicate files.

Keep the two 2026 dates separate

RENLA became the single access point for affordable-housing applications on 1 January 2026, according to the government's 2026 changes overview. On 15 April 2026, the government announced that online registration was available. The first date marks the single-register rule; the second marks the online route.

If you had a file before RENLA

The Housing Ministry says that people already registered with a social landlord were transferred into RENLA automatically. A started or incomplete request is a different status. If your old position is unclear, ask the landlord holding the file before opening another request.
